After communicated with the technical engineer of the SMD production department of Shanghai Automation Instrumentation Co., Ltd., I was inspired by the selection of the SMD resistor, so I sent it out and shared it with friends who used the SMD resistor.
For chip resistors, everyone is familiar with the same volume, the same shape, the same resistance value, why some can carry a large power, and some can withstand extremely high voltage.
Analyze the differences between the two to provide a reference for your design choices!
High power means that it can carry a higher load, so it has a larger effective heat dissipation surface during the resistance process.
High voltage means that the same resistance value can carry a higher voltage. During the resistance process, the effective distance of the resistance must be designed to the maximum.
If the same 2512 power can reach 2W, but the maximum withstand voltage value of the power type is 500V working voltage. However, if made into a high voltage type, it can reach 3KV, but the effective heat sink is reduced, and the maximum power is also 1W.
